Dis·Ease, Dat·Ease or Disease? It is hard to choose! Perhaps that is…
This-Ease, That-Ease or Disease? Which “Ease” would you like?
Of course I am kidding, however, understanding what is the meaning of disease or dis·ease may be beneficial in healing.
In times long ago, people believed that troubles came from “the gods!” These gods were often referred in Greek as a demons or daemon (a sub god, a lesser god, a source or agent of evil, harm, distress, or ruin). In a way, it already sound a bit like a disease! Basically these demons were thought somewhat as the opposite of the good God. If the good God was in the heavens, then the opposite god was in the underworld. The Greek god of the underworld was named Pluto!
The Romans adopted this “opposite of” god, the god of the underworld, and in Latin called him “Dis.” Dis was the opposite of God. God being everything that was good, and Dis being everything opposite of good.
Consider what makes a good character. Trust, Loyalty, Honesty. So what is the “opposite of” Trust, the “opposite of” Loyalty, the “opposite of” Honesty? Dis·Trust, Dis·Loyalty, Dis·Honesty! Do you Honor your father, or Dis·Honor him? Do you Obey your mother or Dis·Obey her? At a Ship you will Embark on your journey … when you arrive, won’t you do the opposite and Dis·Embark? When you drive your car, you must first Engage the transmission with the gearshift. You use the same gearshift to Dis·Engage it!
Notice that in each one of these, “Dis” means the “opposite of” ~ as a prefix!
My knowledgeable friend tells me there are hundreds of English words that begin with the name of the Roman god of the underworld, Dis!
Dis·Ease
Having seen that Dis·Ease is the opposite of ease, it would help us to understand what it means to have “ease” in our life!
ease /ˈi:z/ noun
1 : freedom from pain or trouble : comfort of body or mind
▪ a life of ease
Or consider this longer…
1 : the state of being comfortable: as
a : freedom from pain or discomfort
b : freedom from care
c : freedom from labor or difficulty
d : freedom from embarrassment or constraint : naturalness
e : an easy fit
2: relief from discomfort or obligation
If Ease means, natural, easy, freedom from pain, discomfort or care (worry) … basically Complete Health!
Then Dis·Ease means the opposite of ease, or not-natural, uneasy, pain, discomfort and much care (worry) … basically Deficiencies! Anyone without health can tell you they are deficient!
Notice that by the definition of Dis·Ease, there is nothing said about germs, bugs, microbes, viruses, bacteria, or anything with the word “autoimmune” in it!
Dis·Ease = Deficiency
So when you think of Dis·Ease you should really be thinking “Deficiency!”
It takes some adjusting to think of Dis·Ease as Deficiency. We are so conditioned to think of germs as causing all our problems! But truly, diabetes, high blood pressure, heart attacks, strokes, gout, angina, and many, many, many more problems are usually caused by our Lifestyle… Our lifestyle is Deficient! We are deficient in our keys to health and in our nutrimins we need for a good life.
So remember, the next time you hear someone say “Disease” or “Dis·Ease” just put it in your mind the formula…
Dis·Ease = Deficiency
At New LipHe the term Dis·Ease (or sometimes “dis-ease” with a hyphen) is used as a substitute for the the word disease. This is in common use by individuals and healing communities who are aligned with wellness (rather than sickness, illness or disease). In doing this it is our intent to place emphasis on the natural state of “ease” being imbalanced or disrupted, desiring not to give too much focus to a particular ailment.
Another good example of this idea is that a person who had been diagnosed with diabetes would not say “I am a diabetic” but rather “I am person challenged with diabetes.” Diabetes does NOT define a person. The same is true for people who have children with Autism. They do not have an autistic child, autusim does not define a person and in fact many people with diabetes and autism recover and lead normal healthy and happy lives.
Please don’t give your personal power over to a language or a Dis·Ease! More and more people are discovering how the words we utter and write carry power and are altering their voices accordingly.
Remember that one of the Keys of Health in the New LipHe Lifestyle is what passes your Lip! These include the words we speak! Words have power, they can heal and they can harm. Do not own your Dis·Ease ~ Get rid of it!
